I would have preferred simple built-in modes with a few button presses instead of having to open the app again.

In short, performance on the skin side is good: strong vibrations, consistent warmth, reliable operation. Performance on the software side is average at best: pairing can be a pain, and the forced app step is a design choice that doesn’t benefit the user much. To unlock all the features, you need the FOREO app at least once. This is where things can get annoying. On my Android phone, I did manage to pair it, but it took a couple of tries and a firmware update. I can totally see how someone less patient or less tech-savvy would give up, like the Amazon review saying they couldn’t connect on two phones. Once it’s set up, you can use it mostly without touching the app, but the first setup is mandatory and that’s a weak point for a device at this price.

In practice, I used the cleansing mode for about a minute, sometimes two, once a day in the evening. Then, two to three times a week, I’d flip it and use the firming/microcurrent side on the jawline and cheekbones for a few minutes. It fits into a routine without too much fuss, but only if you’re already the type who spends time on skincare. If you’re someone who barely washes their face at night, this will feel like extra work rather than help.

Let’s talk about the main point: does it work. For cleansing, I noticed a clear difference versus just using my hands. After using the LUNA 3 plus in cleansing mode for a minute, my skin felt smoother and less congested, especially around the nose and chin. When I wiped my face with toner on a cotton pad afterwards, there was almost no residue, whereas without the device I usually see a bit of leftover makeup or dirt. So for basic cleaning, it gets the job done well. I wouldn’t say my pores vanished, but blackheads looked slightly reduced after about 10 days of daily use.

The skin texture is a bit more even and my face looks slightly more “awake”, but that could also be from the regular massage and better cleansing.
